13 students from our Edge program attended Mercy Games - 19th annual Archdiocesan Junior High Rally at Sts. Simon & Jude in the Woodlands. More than 900 students (grades 6th -8th) gathered together as a community to pray, share, learn and celebrate their Catholic faith. This high energy one-day event gave them exposure to service workshops, hands-on activities, liturgy, and keynote presenter, Doug Brummel, a nationally-known Catholic Speaker, Author, and Teacher.
Throughout the day, youth and adults deepened their faith by participating in a wide variety of fun and faith-filled activities which focused on instructions of faith, community building and moral teaching of the Church. In conjunction with the Year of Mercy, we attended a workshop on Visiting the Imprisoned. Through donations received by Rally attendees, students had the opportunity to make HOPE Bags for residents of Juvenile Detention centers in three counties. Bags contained items such as snacks, puzzles, card games and prayer cards.
Core Members and parent volunteers accompanying the students were: Bernice Farrington, Jeff & Christina Gonzales, Hope Novosad and Felicia Reyes. Thanks for your support of our youth.
God’s Mercy is always in your favor!
